The Allis is a little piece of "Wonderland" in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. This versatile restaurant and meeting space is the perfect balance of eclectic elegance and rustic industrial. Not only is this visually-appealing venue highly "Instagrammable," so is their cuisine arranged atop fine china.
AGCO was established in 1990 when executives at Deutz-Allis bought out Deutz-Allis North American operations from the parent corporation KHD (Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz), a German company that owned the Deutz-Fahr brand of agriculture equipment. KHD had purchased portions of the Allis-Chalmers agricultural equipment business five years earlier.
The Allis-Chalmers model B was the result of research by Harry Merritt, Allis tractor division manager, into U.S. farm sizes in the early 1930s. At that time, most tractors were being used on farms larger than 100 acres, while more than half of all farms were under 100 acres.
Allis-Chalmers' history as a manufacturer extends to the 1840's in Milwaukee. In 1914 the growing company entered into the farm equipment business. Over the years Allis-Chalmers was responsible for many innovations in farm equipment and grew to become one of the largest and most diverse manufacturers in North America.
